Vidath Jayawardena has over 25 years of experience in the photography industry. His keen eye for detail and knack for the perfect timing and results has brought him to achieve his best. He has worked in fashion photography, commercial photography and wedding photography as his main focus. However, he is highly skilled in other types of photographic art. He makes his clients feel comfortable and he works hard to perfectly capture the exact image the client wants. He is determined and persistent. His experience and his creative skills mix well together to create the perfect unity to shoot excellent and high-quality images in outdoor and indoor lighting.
With so many years of experience, I have to admit I have come across many interesting people and sightings. Every single project I’ve done has left marks on my personality and life. It is fair to admit some have left a bigger impact on me as well as my career.
One of these has to be my when my career first launched in 2005, when I worked with Miss Sri Lanka and Miss Tourism International of Sri Lanka in 2004. As a freelance photographer back then, this opportunity in the fashion industry changed my ideals and creative ideas. I met with many talented individuals whose insight I still use to this date.
My later work with the Sri Lankan Police Department and Army Forces was a different approach to photography. I had the opportunity to meet many ranked officers, which allowed me to expand my horizons. I used photography to showcase their sense of duty and responsibility. My photos captured the heaviness of their lives and their service. I had to use my innovative skills to bring out the best in their achievements.
At last but not least, my individual involvement in a vast amount of couples during their special days such as engagements, weddings and anniversaries really changed me. I allowed myself to see the beauty in simple things such as the glint of a ring, the way the moon would shine onto outdoor tables or even just someone’s smile. I was very intrigued by these smaller even almost insignificant things that it helped me understand and give attention to small details which helped me during the later times of my career.
This is not the least of my list at all as I mentioned earlier. I only hope to keep experiencing the rest of my career where I can further sharpen my skills and knowledge to capture your dream on a camera.
